This restaurant is a true treasure in the booming LA began scene.
My partner and I enjoyed some of the tastiest food we have ever had and I can't wait to hit them up again. I didn't even get to the cakes. I can't speak highly enough of the soul plate I ordered. It was brimming with candied yams, greens, savory rice and fried fish substitute. I also agree with the Yelper a few below me. The chlorophyll drink sweetened with agave is fresh, delightful and delicious.
The service was a delight. The host even asked us if we are in to seeing drag shows and suggested we come back on Sunday night for the gender illusionists!
This eatery is a positive addition to the area and thy host a community focused, pay what you can, alternative therapy and health center in the same building. The chef came and spoke to us about all the great services they offer and how they don't turn anyone away due to lack of funds.
Vegan Village makes me smile.

I've brought a few non-vegetarian friends here and they were big fans. The mac 'n' cheese is to die for, but pretty much everything we've gotten has been fantastic. The chef even came out one night and gave us a sample of a new creation he's working on. The desserts are very good, the lemon cake in partricular. The atmosphere is bizzare. I'm not really a fan of the way it all looks, but I think convertin the place form a restaurant to a dance club is sort of ingenious, so all is forgiven.

I went to Vegan Village with low expectations. I'm usually strictly carnivorous by nature. A friend of mine said that I should try to eat healthier if I wanted to be successful in achieving a better workout regiment. i haven't ate "vegan" before and I was a little hesitant on trying this establishment.
The joint is located near Pico and Norton, and it is actually a mini labyrinth. It is three stories high, with approximately 6 rooms, 2 dance floors, offices, etc. The restaurant part was nicely furnished, the usual hardwood floors, etc.
The staff was very attentive, and i asked them what a first timer should get. They suggested the Wet Burrito. That was a great selection, it was spicy, was very similar to a regular burrito, however the freshness of the vegetables was evident. It was feeling. My friend then suggested I try the dessert, that's one of their specialties.
This is where they earned their stars! I tried a caramel cake, freshly made by the chef. He had just finalized the frosting application, and brought out the creamy concoction. I bought two slices, and it was well worth it. It was like caramel met a butter texture, and the cake itself was amazing. It was actually better than any other bakery made cake that I have tasted.
I understand about the pricing, however, the owner stresses how she utilizes only the best ingredients for her food selections. Thus, the prices reflect that. However, she has stated that she is working on compromising and possibly lowering some of the prices possibly.
Overall, this place is great for Desserts and Dinner

Perhaps a little odd, and yeah, maybe a little pricey too, but we're in LA -- what's not odd and pricey? I was shocked and delighted at the quality of my double dipped wings, my raw kale salad, and my crazy chlorophyll agave lemon drink, and I'm going to need more real soon.

This has become my favourite Saturday night eatery. The location is unusual--unusual to find such innovative vegan cuisine in a borderline part of town. The chef is endlessly innvative, and the food ranges from raw dishes to soul food stuff and Mexican food. don't miss the mac and cheese or the hot wings. Amazing cakes--the lemon glazed cake is not to be missed. I would receommend all vegetarians & vegan to patronize this place & encourage them. They deserve it.

I hope they can make a go og this. Love the alien monster (with the eggplant head) on their web site.
Lots of small stores around this neighborhood (Fumi's Fish is a block away and had been in the neighborhood for a decade, Passionfruit, a clothing store, opened a few months ago just a few blocks west). I just wish all the stores would gather in a herd. Right now, there are bars and autobody shops in between which kill the walkability of the neighborhood.
